Belgian Liege Waffles

Being in Belgium for a short trip we had to make waffles, it was inevitable and they turned out absolutely perfect.

Equipment

  • 1 waffle maker
  • 1 small pot
  • 1 medium size bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 120 g melted butter
  • 100 ml lukewarm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200 g flour
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 100 g pearl sugar

Instructions
 

  • in a small pot with low heat add the butter until it melts
  • in a jar add the lukewarm milk, the egg and mix it up
  • add the melted butter
  • add the extract of vanilla and mix it up
  • in a medium size bowl add the flour
  • add the sugar
  • add the salt and dry mix it
  • add the wet ingredients and mix it until all combined
  • cover it for 45 minutes or until double its size
  • add the pearl sugar and mix it well
  • butter the surface of the waffle maker and place the dough in it to cook for 4-5 minutes
  • add the toppings of your choice
