Beef Tallow, make it yourself it's easy
Never throw away fat trimmings from beef, you can turn it into beef tallow, which is excellent for frying steaks, potatoes or even vegetables. It adds amazing flavour.

Ingredients
- 3 kg beef fat trimmings
- 250 ml / 8 fl oz water
Instructions
- cut the beef fat trimmings into small cubes and add it in a pot
- add 250 ml of water
- cook it for 4 hours or until all the solids are crispen up
- remove them from the pot to cool down before you strain it
- using a coffee filter, strain it for a second time so you can take out all the small bits and pieces which are still left in the tallow
- sanitise a couple of mason jars with boiling water so they're completely clean
- add the tallow in the mason jar, close it and leave it in the fridge
- the tallow can stay for 4 or 5 months
