Shrimp Saganaki
Shrimps in Tomato sauce with Feta and Ouzo. Greek cuisine when it is at it's best! We just love this dish and it is pretty easy to prepare, just follow the steps in the video and you are in for a treat.

Ingredients
- 500 g Whole shrimps
- Olive oil
- Sea salt
Sauce
- 3 diced Shallots
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tbsp Tomato paste
- 50 ml Ouzo
- 2 large Tomatoes diced
- 500 ml Tomato puree optional
- 1 green bell pepper diced
- 1 tbsp fresh oregano chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh basil chopped
- ½-1 tbsp chili flakes
- Pinch of black Pepper
- 200 g feta cheese crumbled
- sea salt to taste
- ½ L passata optional
Instructions
Shrimps
- Take off the shell and tail from the shrimps and keep the heads for better flavour
- devein the shrimps
- drizzle the shrimps with olive oil and a pinch of salt
- take a pot and place it on the stove burner running on medium heat
- add 3-4 tbsp of olive oil
- add the shrimps, to get colour, you don't want to cook them yet
- once the shrimps are ready take them out
- add the shallots until translucent
- add the minced garlic
- add the tomato paste and stir it up
- add the ouzo until the alcohol evaporates
- add the diced tomatoes
- you can ad the passata for extra sauce
- add the diced green bell pepper
- add the fresh oregano and basil
- add the red chillies
- add a pinch of black pepper
- add a pinch of salt
- let it shimmer for 15 minutes
- add the shrimps in the sauce
- add the crumbled feta cheese
- cover it and cook it for 5-7 minutes
- ready to serve
